Cowl hood issues

I am in need of some opinions on how much room is needed on a cowl which is 6" to have enough air for the carb? I have about 3" of room on the back of the carb and only an 1" or so in the front. Will this work or do I need to change something? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

You need 1.5 inches above vent tube or it will pull fuel out of the bowl. You can take 90 degree plug boots put them on the vent tubes one facing foward one rearward with no air pushing thru a scoop on the frt. one and then you can get a little closer to the hood
