View Full Version : Rules Questions

I have a couple of questions about this class. One is the fuel, will you guys be running a spec fuel or will you be running your own concoctions? The other is that I am not 100% sure how you are determining who moves on and who's done. Do the fans choose the better wheelie and whoever that is, will be the eventual winner? Or do the et's actually make a difference? Another question I have is on the purge, if I have an NA car do I need some kind of co2 setup to appear as a purge? And lastly who is the goto place for an E85 carb? Is Prosystems in the game on this?

Whats up dude?
One question at a atime...lol.
Fuels, no spec fuel, but there does look to be some race veriosn coming, mainly from RockettBrand. You are free to use pump versions too, but can and will be checked to a minimum 85% ethanol. Max percentage TBD.
Eliminations are normal as you know. The wheelie rule is not THE deciding factor, but a rule none the less. The win light is still the win light, unless the car leaves like a NHRA pro stock.
Good question on the purge. Duane this one is your call. I assume if smoke is still rolling out of the car from a HUGE burnout that shoudl suffice....lol.
Carbwise there are a few. Prosystems, Quick Fuel, and raceone85.com if you dotn want to make a $1k investment on another carb. There are a few others I think, but these seem to be the mainstay right now.
The later of the three is how myself Brett and Steve went. The guys name is Heath and if you call make sure you tell him I sent ya. May not get you much, but it gives US (class participants) a friendly mention and could work more deals later for others.

.
That is my exact question over on the yb thread...What kind of answer is "unless the car leaves like a NHRA pro stock."??
Big grey area there..you guys need to confirm what this rule really means or you asking for a big headache come race day..I see alot of high powered cars just spin on these hot greasy midwest tracks..so somebody goes out and spins hard but runs an 8.90 against say a 9.40 but the 9.40 guys does a big wheelie..who wins?

The "plan" is to put on a show at the same time. I agree there is a bad area in the case of track conditions, however, we need to try to overcome that. Maybe Duane can put a better spin on this as he has been doing this for a long time with the OSS at differing tracks in the midwest as you say. I dont think they had a rull like this, but it was an unwritten rule for a long time. I can see your point. Probly need to put more clarity to the rule as to; if this then that. Or its just up to the tuner to get a handle on the track. Not sure how to address it.
Mafia is doing the same though. Not sure how they are addressing this thought.

One idea is to have the group get togther after qualifying to discuss track conditions and then how hard the rule would be enforced. Or maybe adjust "height".
This would be a large argument waiting to happen though if you do it by commitee.
Keep in mind this is a new class, and there will be bugs to learn and figure out. We went through it witht he PPR classes and they WERE doing great.
This rule is the whole reason I had to shorten my upper 4 link bars, etc so I had the adjustability for the track. But many cars dont have that, so I see your thoughts on the wall.

"Better Spin"??
I thougth this is a "NO SPIN ZONE"???
JK!
Seriously..If a guy/gal (especially an unemployed one)is going to spend the $$$$ to run this ethanol class then some of the rules need to be clear.
I really don't have a problem with the wheelie rule one way or another. It just needs to be clear... same with the purge rule...I have no power adder?
No purge = no win?
No wheelie= no win?
If that is a rule then it needs to say no exceptions. that is my point..Just trying to make it easier on you guys come race day...if there is a problem then you can say"here it is in black and white"..LOL

If the main intent is a show then I would not bounce anyone for not complying. have your meeting after qualifying..and say things like..
Jim your wheelies are too short....work on it..etc but not bounce anybody...let the finish line and tree do it's job and leave the "show" rules out of the equation. But tell the guys not meeting the "big picture" to work on it next time.. cause if you start saying Jim your wheelie is only 1 ft instead of 2 and you cannot come back next round....then your asking for headaches...IMHO...
BUT if the rules clearly states these specifics then there is nothing to argue over...

The 2 foot wheelie was placed at the first meeting by a majority vote. Cars not intentionly pulling the front wheels has been huge problem in OSS for years and it has affect the "show". The is no fair way to regulate who is trying and who is not trying to get the wheels up. We know that not every car can pull a 2 foot wheelie every pass on every track... but it was a goal for everyone to at least "try"...
We will address this at the meeting on Saturday night...
See you Saturday,

I am cool with the wheelie, my car "should" be in the ball park most of the time. What about the purge, IF I decide to stay NA do I need to rig up some CO2 or can I save some face by allowing the fans to know that I am NA? Bottom line, my ride won't be the class of the class, but it seems like it would be some fun to run with you guys, that and using e85 as a race fuel is a less expensive alternative.

WHEELS UP LAUNCHES OUT PAST THE 330. THATS WHAT I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION WE WERE REQUIRED TO DO .

Forget the goddamn wheelie's, nitrous purges, etc etc etc...... Make it simple as a door car with no throttle devices or electric shifter. :yup:
I know I was part of voting on these rules but the more I read them the more problems I see in future.
